May 25, 2011 - African-American publishing professionals, writers, and new media leaders gathered in New York City for the 2011 Black Pack Party. The event, hosted at the new Aloft Hotel in Harlem, NY, was a chance for industry insiders to come together and celebrate achievements from the past year.

This year we honored the good life of Manie Baron who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year. A Harlem kid, Manie rose through the ranks of publishing holding almost every postion --rep, editor, and agent among others. Since we all know he loved a party, it was fitting that a toast be given in his honor.

This was the fifth anniversary of the event and attracted the largest crowd yet --over 100 people. Thanks to all those who attended, and we'll see you next year.

Event presenters are Linda Duggins; Michelle Gibson, Written magazine; Troy Johnson, AALBC.com; Ron Kavanaugh, MosaicBooks.com; & L. Martin Pratt, Rolling Out magazine
